Hello and welcome to save college radio dot net. Save college radio dot net is a new web page developed by Nate Osit and Patrick Murphy to try to create the first non-music based resource for college and non-commercial stations throughout the country. College radio and low power FM is in trouble in this age of media consolidation. Our goal is to be a resource and forum for students and college radio alumni to consult to make sure that these student run stations stay in the hands of the students who care for them so dearly. We all need to make sure college radio stations are preserved not only for their non-commercial, non-homogonized, original free form programming, but also as centers for learning that will lead students to a broad range of careers from music business to audio engineering to general leadership skills. As I mentioned in CMJ (issue 833, September 29, 2003) Keep in mind that it's the schools that own the stations, and you need to make sure they just can't walk in and take them over.
